Inhoud
The Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) affects up to 85% of women during menopause, leading to persistent issues such as stress incontinence, overactive bladder, recurrent urinary tract infections, vulvovaginal dryness, and sexual dysfunction. Unlike other menopausal symptoms, GSM can continue to worsen throughout a woman’s life.
This course offers insights into the hormonal changes associated with menopause—both natural and surgical—and equips participants with the skills to apply the latest research on multi-modal pelvic health strategies. We will focus on the anatomical and physiological changes that occur during this critical stage in a woman's life, emphasizing bladder and bowel function, pelvic organ prolapse, and sexual health. Physiotherapists play a vital, evidence-based role in assessing and treating pelvic health concerns, and this training will enhance their confidence and competence in supporting women through menopause.
