Inhoud

Did you know? Musculoskeletal Syndrome of Menopause affects over 70% of women. While most are familiar with hot flashes and sleep disturbances, musculoskeletal symptoms often go unnoticed, yet they can be silent, severe, and permanent if unaddressed.

Symptoms can include tendinopathy & joint pain, especially shoulder, hip, and foot/ankle, loss of lean muscle mass, decreased bone density, and an increased risk of injuries. Such challenges can profoundly affect both quality of life and ability to participate in sport/ physical activity

This PowerTalk with Michelle Lyons will introduce current research and provide physiotherapists with an evidence-based toolbox to effectively recognize and manage these common but treatable dysfunctions. Join us to enhance your understanding and support your patients better during this critical phase of their lives.

Topics discussed include:

  • The Masters Athlete - why runners over 40 need specific education
  • Gluteal tendinopathy, Rotator Cuff Issues and Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sarcopenia - why building muscle mass can be challenging at perimenopause
  • Women & Back Pain at Menopause - what else should we include in assessment/treatment considerations
  • Why hip mobility & strength are often the missing link for pelvic health
  • Bone health considerations - is it tight hip flexors...or a NOF fracture?
