Tom Mertens

Tom Mertens is sinds 2005 actief als sportkinesitherapeut en combineert meer dan twintig jaar ervaring in revalidatie en topsport met een duidelijke visie: genezen door te bewegen. Het stimuleren van zelfredzaamheid en het geven van verantwoordelijkheid aan de patiënt staan centraal in zijn aanpak.

Als zaakvoerder van Kineworks slaat Tom de brug tussen revalidatie en performance. Sinds drie jaar is hij bijna fulltime verbonden aan de Vlaamse Schaatsunie, waar hij als kinesitherapeut en strength & conditioning coach het Belgische shorttrackteam begeleidt richting de Olympische Winterspelen van 2026.

Zijn internationale ervaring is uitgebreid: hij werkte vier jaar in het voetbal met de nationale ploegen van Gambia en de Filipijnen, maakte deel uit van drie opeenvolgende Olympische Zomerspelen en begeleidde eerder ook de Belgian Bullets (bobslee) en gedurende tien jaar de Red Lions (Belgische nationale hockeyploeg).

Met zijn brede expertise in topsport en ondernemerschap brengt Tom een unieke combinatie van praktijkgericht inzicht, nuchtere visie en inspirerende kennis naar de kinesitherapie.
