PowerTalk: Lumbar Radiculopathy – Science & Clinical Practice
Direct aanmeldenPlanning
Inhoud
Lumbar radiculopathy is a common and highly problematic clinical issue. The presence of changes within the function and sensitivity of the nervous system, along with back pain, make this a complex and challenging condition for clinicians to manage. There is a large body of evidence on the causes and mechanisms of radiculopathy, but there is still limited research on the best management strategies to guide practitioners in clinical practice.
In this Powertalk, Thomas will explain the main causes and processes behind lumbar radiculopathy, helping listeners understand these issues clearly. He will also show a simple framework for assessing patients, making it easier for clinicians to confirm their diagnosis. This framework includes several objective tools to track patient progress over time.
Finally, a detailed treatment plan will be presented, focusing on non-surgical approaches like therapeutic exercises, education, and manual therapy. The talk will also cover when medications, injections, or surgery might be needed.
This Powertalk is highly engaging and includes many practical clinical examples from Thomas’ extensive experience as a spinal Physiotherapist in the Neurosurgery team at Cork University Hospital. By the end, participants will feel ready to treat lumbar radiculopathy effectively, using evidence-based methods.
